EDG is an environmental, tourism development, planning, architectural, and Landscape architecture consulting Company based in Cairo, has been established to serve both the private and public sector organizations including Local Egyptian and International Agencies.

EDG working group has built up a good reputation as a specialist in a multi-discipline and high quality co-ordination projects such as: environmental planning, tourism, ecotourism and community development. Our work frequently serves as a benchmark for those in search of sustainable design and community development in Egypt. Our commitment is to both community and environment, Which distinguishes our work.

By cooperating with consultants who are specialized in particular disciplines and by calling in experts from private and public institutions, EDG can readily build up team specifically adapted to the particular requirements of any given projects, independent in its nature and scope. In view of the complexity and the multi-purpose character of present-day development and environmental work, this can obviously be of great advantage and the resulting flexibility is in the interest of the client.

Meet Our CEO & Founder

Mohamed A. M. El Khatib

Mr. El Khatib has Over 35 years of professional experience in the field of Architecture,
urban, and tourism planning. He is skilled in professional work for both public and private
sector organizations local Egyptian and International agencies (USAID, GTZ, UNDP,
Netherland’s embassy, Italian Cooperation, DANIDA, EEAA, TDA, GOPP). He has worked
extensively with different communities in Egypt and Middle East.
Mr. El Khatib has worked in the field of urban conservation and revitalization of historic
areas and sustainable urban development including: "Strategic vision for Cairo 2050",
development of Tal Al-Aqareb deteriorated area in Sayda Zaynab historic quarter in Cairo,
urban revitalization of the surrounded area of Magra Al Oyoun (the historic aqueducts of
Cairo), revitalization of Fustat and Ain Al-Sira historic area, as well as revitalization of the
Mamluk Qarafa (the historic cemetery of Cairo).
Mr. Elkhatib participated in preparation of Site Management Plans for number of culture and
natural heritage sites nominated by UNISCO such as: "the archaeological area of Giza
Pyramids, Sphinx, and the surrounded tombs" Egypt 2002, Gebel Qatrani and Valley of the
whales, Fayoum 2006, and Saqqara archaeological area site management plan 2019.
He has designed and implemented number of projects aiming at assisting marginalized
communities to sustainably use their natural and economic resources. Among these projects
is the Tourism Development Authority TDA funded project “Bedouin community-based
ecotourism project, north Nweebaa, South Sinai”, the GTZ funded project “El Qasr rural
development project, Matruh, Northern coast of Egypt” and East Nasrya site and services
project, Aswan, Egypt.
Mr. Elkhatib hired as a team leader for number of projects affiliated by international donors
in Egypt in the field of sustainable development such as: the Italian cooperation funded
project “Sustainable development of Fayoum governorate, and sustainable ecotourism
development in the New Valley governorate, Egypt, the USAID funded project “Land Use
Management Plan of the Southern Red Sea Region”, as well as Omani Ministry of Tourism
funded project" Land Use Plan of Niabet Al Rawdhah, Oman".
